Love at First Sight

The Fairfield House

The Fairfield House

I found the Fairfield House in the same manner I’ve located many things, on-line. I highly recommend Historic Properties to anyone buying or selling a historical home or if you just have some spare time to swoon over pictures. This is my form of porn.

That was the easy part.

Next came getting there. That took some doing because it’s in a remote area that I never knew existed. A place so isolated when we entered the address into map quest, the response was: Huh? A place where street signs are few to none and even when they do appear they arbitrarily alternate between county road numbers and township road names. Have you ever been on a road and spent thirty minutes looking for another only to realize they are one and the same? That’s the kind of lost I am talking about. We would have asked for directions, if we had passed any form of human life.  But we were on a mission and refused to quit. We forged ahead, off the beaten path, circling and back tracking. Finally, after many miles, hours and a few words I wouldn’t repeat in church, we reached our destination and instantly knew… we were home.
