The Summer Read

“I was born with a reading list I will never finish.” ~ Maud Casey

After considering everyone’s suggestions, I’ve decided the first read for the Fairfield House Book Club will be a book new to all of us, The Chaperone by Laura Moriarty.

“USA Today’s #1 Hot Fiction Pick for the summer, The Chaperone is a captivating novel about the woman who chaperoned an irreverent Louise Brooks to New York City in 1922 and the summer that would change them both.” ~

There were thirteen comments left expressing interest in participating. Each participant was assigned a number and the winner of this month’s selected book was chosen using the random number selector at Random.Org

The winner is Ain’t for City Gals. So, everyone start reading and we’ll plan on discussing it at the end of July. More details to follow…

Alas I will have to pass on this first read right now. (But it is on my list.) Everyday I get up, put on paint spattered clothes, maybe eat a little and fall into bed each night with a paintbrush in my hand. My best friend from 3rd grade is now here to help so I hope there is an end in sight.

When reading the description the first thought I had was “Oh, this is the female version of My Week With Marilyn.”

    I will be following along.

Happy days. I am moving great big pieces of furniture today in 115 degree heat.

So sorry I have to back out for now. My Mom was just diagnosed with bone cancer (and it has spread) and I’m in the process of selling her house and moving her in with me. That was such a great idea you had ….. maybe next time? Thanks!
