The 12th Day of Christmas

“A friend is a gift you give yourself.” ~ Robert Louis Stevenson

Did you have yourself a merry little Christmas?

Santa Visit

The man-in-training and two princesses visit Santa.

Count down ’til midnight and kiss your sweet heart on New Year’s Eve?

Butters

Emily’s party animal “Butters”.

I hope you did.

Gifts

Before I take down our decorations and store them away for another year, I wanted to share some wonderful pieces that were added to the collection of Christmas decor at the Fairfield House.

Santa Ornament

My sweet friend, Kathleen, from Purple Flowers is a fellow Jersey Girl and sent this jolly Santa ornament. It has a vintage look and reminds me of ornaments that hung on my grandparent’s tree.

Cone

Dried Flower Bouquet

Lisa, another Jersey Girl, from Bilancia Designs, made this wonderful cone and dried flower bouquet. The lace she used on the cone is from the late 1800′s which makes this beautiful item even more special. Lisa is inspired by nature, loves all things vintage and is passionate about calligraphy. She offers her lovely creations online and at her retail shop at Jack’s Barn in Oxford, NJ.

Santa Portrait

Stephenie, from Decorating Addiction, opened an Etsy shop! Her husband, Jason is an artist and when Stephenie noted how much she liked the over priced Santa print in last year’s Pottery Barn catalog he created one for her. Now I have my own! If only she could bottle her energy and sell that on Etsy!

Stocking

Victoria from Victoria Hayden Designs has mastered the beast (aka sewing machine) and is one of the most talented women I have come to know through blogging. The stocking she designed is the epitome of cottage charm. It’s lined with muslin, has a scalloped matelasse cuff paired with designer fabric. The sweet red gingham ruffled rose and personalization with a silver glittered letter puts this stocking over the top!

Snowflake

Zuzu from Cottage in the Woods is an artist. I don’t believe there is anything she can’t do once she puts her mind to it. After being inspired on Pinterest, she picked up a crochet hook and made beautiful stars. I adore the intricate details.

I cherish each of these treasures but more so the friendship of each sender and others I have come to know and love through blogging. You are all a blessing and my extended family. I look forward to another year of sharing, caring and creating!

Deborah, Thank you for sharing, each item is special in it’s own way. Jan. 6th, LITTLE CHRISTMAS, as my Mother called it, has passed and our decorations are starting to come down today too. It was also a special day for my husband, as a little boy in Italy, his family called it Santa Clause Day. He remembers receiving peanuts, an orange and a pink, rubber ball. One year I wrapped those things up in a box and gave them to him on Jan. 6th, he said that it brought back a lot of special memories. ♥ WISHING YOU AND YOURS A VERY HAPPY NEW YEAR, WITH MANY SPECIAL MEMORIES TO COME. MAY GOD BLESS.

Deborah, this is a wonderful giveaway. I love Susan Branch, but don’t put my name in since I was the lucky recipient of one of your previous giveaways! We had a marvelous Christmas and New Year’s Day and it looks like you had the same. Wishing you all the best in 2013!

I love all of the wonderful Christmas ornaments! I too love to take pictures of the ornaments that I have and every year I have an ornament party (a little different than most we all make the ornaments and then bring enough to share with everyone that attends) and it is so much fun to open that particular box at the beginning of the Christmas season and remember the friends that attended last year and know that I will be able to do the same thing again next year with the wonderful collection of this year. Thanks for sharing! Oh and I do love Susan Branch

Some great additions to your Christmas decorations. I should have taken a few pictures of the new ornaments and decorations we aquired this year. Especially the #1 grandma cupcake ornament from our grandson. I always enjoy my visits here.

A big ‘ole cheesy smile flashed across my face when I saw the Santa Claus I gave you. So glad you enjoyed it over the holiday season! You are my dear friend, and I hope someday, I have the pleasure of meeting you.
I would love a Susan Branch calendar. I adore her cheery thoughts and quotes. Her artistry makes me smile miles. And I feel good studying (yes, studying) each and every month, over and over again. I could not find one this year. So to be a winner would certainly make me a winner.
    Best to you!
    Kathleen

Happy New Year Deborah! It looks like you got some great additions to your already-adorable decorating. I especially like the Santa ornament and stockings. Oh and the Santa painting isn’t too shabby either :-). I hope it brought you a lot of joy this holiday season. Thanks for the shout out :-). I’ve been taking a little break from blogging- so tired and busy with work. Hope all is well with you!

    Hello and Happy New Year!
(I keep saying that at least until we’re halfway through January.)

LOVE the closeups of the gifts and ornaments, and that so many are from fellow Jersey Girls. . . who DO Christmas the right way, and DON’T pump gas.

I have not yet begun the serious take-down of Christmas here; way behind schedule, and still hoping for a Helper Fairy with Shaker-style instincts to come and de-bling. The putting-away is the downside of all the decorating at Christmas. (I was going to say, “. . . all the putting-out at Christmas,” but somehow that just didn’t sound right, y’know?)

I will leave our Creche up a bit longer. My heart always aches for Mary at Christmas, and my favorite line from the Story is “. . . Mary kept all these things, and pondered them in her heart.” That is such a Mother thing, and so poignant.

The quote on the front of the Susan Branch calendar brought tears to my eyes this morning; so often I don’t give the at-home arts their proper place, or take time to appreciate the mission that there is in caring for a household.

    I think I’ve got a new Resolution.

    Blessings in 2013~
    Your friend, Cass

P.S. I “liked” you on FB, but in the guise of my dog . . . Dylan DiPoochy. Sshhh, don’t tell of Dylan’s secret identity. :-)

I love Susan Branch’s lovely work. I got a copy of her book on Christmas for my birthday yesterday. I so enjoy her work that I am always looking for pieces of her work I don’ have. It would so great to be looking at. her current work everyday. I am still searching for some past calendars. Your blog has been an inspiration. I think I am a follower-but found it hard to determine. Reading your blog is always on my list.

Hi Deborah: I think I “liked” you on FB. I am not so advanced in my technology skills, and FB still confuses me sometimes.
    Enjoy your weekend!
